Exclusive Interview: Star Trek III: The Search for Spock with Stephen Manley (Part 1)

Exclusive Interview: Star Trek III: The Search for Spock with Stephen Manley (Part 1)

https://creators.co/@KimberlyMoore/3989123

I was very fortunate to have Stephen Manley reach out to me on Twitter.com. I have been with moviepilot.com since last year. This is a preview to the article.

I am very fortunate today to have a special guest star via/Telephone Interview with Stephen Manley. He is known for his roles in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock andLittle House on the Prairie. I am only naming a couple of his starring roles throughout his extensive career in the 40+ years of his acting experience. His newest debut, Ghosthunters, by The Asylum, was released on July 5, 2016, and is available for purchase on Amazon.com.

Interviewer: Kimberly
What inspired you to become an actor?
Stephen- "This is like a novel full in and of itself. I am adopted. I'm an only child. The woman who adopted me, my step mom, her father was from Naples, Italy. He and his three brothers lived in New York in the early nineteen hundreds. The older brothers took off, and after awhile one of them joined the Navy. My grandfather, Stephen Soldi, worked in a shoe factory for a while and didn't like it. When he was old enough, he joined as a bill-boy in World War I. They sent him over to France and when he got there, the war ended. So, they put him back on a ship and sent him back to New York, and now he's an American citizen. He then joined the circus. He didn't want to go back to the shoe factory. He traveled by train with the circus taking care of the Lions at night time and working as a clown, you know, during the shows.
In 1917, he ended up in Los Angeles and B.W. Griffith was gearing up to make that big silent film Intolerance, the one with those huge Babylonian sets, and there's a Roman sequence to it. He got a job. He was hired as one of the Roman soldiers. And, Griffin wanted Italian speaking people to play the Italians and the Romans. I still have Grandpa Soldi's costume test picture. It's a hand-printed photograph of him in a Roman uniform on that set. He said, 'Boy I love this!'

He stayed in the movie business from 1917 all the way until 1966. You can catch him all over the place. I mean, he was in Gene Kelly's, 'Singing in the Rain'. At the end of the routine, my grandfather bumps into him and Gene Kelly hands him the umbrella, that is my grandfather; When the Marx Brothers are crowding into the state room in 'Night at the Opera', he is in the picture all squashed up inside there with them. I've got pictures of him with Charlie Chaplin and Boris Karloff. He loved the movie business. He loved being an actor. He specialized in bit parts and small things. Eventually, he was also a stuntman. He was Peter Lorre's personal stuntman, and he was Edward G. Robinson's personal stuntman.
Because he was from Naples, Italy, he wasn't the tallest fellow in the world, he was like, you know, Al Pacino and Edward G., but he loved it. He loved the industry. He retired in 1966. His last gig was a drama on Disney film called Bullwhip Griffin. In the 50s', he had tried to get Stella, his daughter, to take her contract with 20th Century Fox seriously, but the only thing that Stella took seriously was flirting with guys at the beach. So, they retired her from her contract, which drove my grandfather insane.
angelfire.com

So when I was adopted, he looked at me and he put his insights on me. You know, I love my parents, but Grandpa Soldi was everything to me. When his wife passed away, since he lived with us, I spent all my time with him. It was not uncommon for me to just get up in the morning as a little boy and walk into grandpa's room and find him going through his stills of all those pictures that he would then explain what every single one of them were, 'Here I am as a German soldier. Oh, we're getting ready to run over ...'" he trails off. "You know, 'Here I am as a cowboy, hey, gettin' in a gunfight...Here I am as an Oregon grinder, and I'm, you know, taking tips. You know, here I am with the dead-end kid.' He was also the original live version of J. Wellington Wimpy of Popeye and Wimpy, and they did short films and live appearances. So, I have pictures of him eating White Castle hamburgers and holding Spanky McFarland in his arms. So, I learned all that stuff.

And then, he taught me to read, but he taught me to read by using film strips. And so, I would learn how to read dialogue and memorize the lines. I learned how to read stage direction, all that kind of stuff. He put 15- millimeter films on his projector, and he would show me the things he was in, or something would come on television and he would say, 'Here I come,' and there he was. He was one of the students in Frankenstein at the beginning of the movie. He tried desperately to get my mom to be little Maria, the little girl that gets thrown by Boris Karloff into the water to see if she floats like a flower. The director James Whale wanted her, but Stella was so terrified of Boris Karloff that they couldn't get her near the set. So, it went to the other young lady.

So, when I was five years old, he stuck me in his 1949 Packard, which was in immaculate shape. He kept everything beautifully. We drove down to the Screen Actor's Guild, and he spoke in Italian to the head of guild at the time, and I walked out with a side-cart. And, that's how I got started. A few months later, I was on a talent show called Juvenile Jury, and an agent named Dorothy Peyote saw me and she took me on. She thought I had enough personality that she could push me, so then, I could get work. And, sure enough, I started to book jobs. I went on auditions. I went out on interviews, and the unique thing was, I recognized all of the studio lots and all of the buildings because they were in the still pictures that my grandfather would show me when he would do show and tell all the time. And, I felt such a heavy responsibility to make my grandpa proud and to utilize the work ethic that he instilled in me.

Yahoo Mail from PETA

Yahoo Mail from PETA

Yesterday, I went through my mail "you got mail", from my yahoo address.  It was from "PETA".
Wishing me a Happy Birthday, along with Thanking me from my on-going support to keep fighting for these precious innocence, that were gifted to us on our planet!  Thank you PETA!!

I will continue to be the activist in which I am...when it comes to the suffering of any animal!  My "Facebook page" is evident of what I continue to fight for.  The Causes to stand against animal experimenting, the cruel torture of monkey's, rabbits, and dogs forced to smoke cigarets and inhale other poisons...yes, they do this! That's not even all...with the make-up you even wear! I'm not able to cover how much torture to babies, that is happening every day!

http://www.peta.org/issues/animals-used-for-experimentation/animals-used-experimentation-factsheets/smoking-experiments-animals/

To Sea World and their cramped tanks of slavery to even Zoo's, that are filthy and starving. The Circuses, that whip Elephants to force them to perform. Their babies being tied down with chains and ripped from their mothers.

People wonder why Animals attack their trainers!?   It's common sense entertainment world! They can't tell you to knock it off and quit hurting them. The only place they belong is in their own habitat!  Elephants trampling humans and Whales killing their trainers and Tigers mauling their Masters...I'm sure there is much more!

This above picture is from a former employee of the Nation's largest Traveling Circus!

Keep signing your petitions! Boycott!  Don't stay silent...they need our voices! Thank you!

The Golden Life: How to Become the Best you Can Be

The Golden Life: How to Become the Best you Can Be

I wanted to start off by thanking everyone from the bottom of my heart! Visiting me here or my other Blog @ Kimwriterblog.wordpress.com

Everyone has a voice and the right to be heard. You can become and manifest your dreams and desires! What has helped me through the pain in life...is instead of being negative and throwing that out in the universe...where it hits you like a boomerang and you fall each time.  Just start ...living and becoming positive.  I know it's difficult the obstacles that we face.  It's not a lost cause either...because I'm living proof that I'm happy and positive!

The worst word to use is I can't!  Not only you won't be able to do it...your defeating your own purpose in life. Your putting up invisible barriers around yourself. Yes, they do exist!  The better thing to do is say you can...even positive affirmations can help too.  All you have to do is try and say you can! When you continue to do this...you will start noticing positive changes. You will be transformed and your family and friends will notice too. They will want the same reactions in their world! Your creating positive peace...and a loving flow out wards.  And you will attract the same in response.  Stay away from negativity in every form!  Thanks for viewing!  Good luck will come into
your life!

The Invisible Killer

The Invisible Killer!  If your like me and have many chronic debilitating illnesses.   I don't want to refer the illnesses as diseases. That would mean to me, that I have given up on finding a cure! (Killer), isn't what it always seems to be.  If it takes you away from having fun and being able to care for yourself! That's a killer that sucks the life out of you!

That's what the illnesses do to me and countless others, whom deal with this every millisecond to every day.  Fibromyalgia, arthritis, lupus, chronic fatigue syndrome, PTS, cancer, and depression.  Some I wanted to add, but just a few.  I know there's plenty more than what I listed.

I had not even a clue that foods can play a important key element in these illnesses. "What you put into your system the more you get out of it." Very true statement!

I have come across on Facebook a group page that I'm very grateful to...it's called "Foods for Fibromyalgia". If your like me and need supportive people and learn new ways of eating. To end the flares that our bodies produce along with no medication option...this group is for you!

Come by and check it out! We could always need someone to lean on!

Titanic Ghost Letter

Titanic Ghost Letter

I wanted to share this letter to everyone.  I am a Fan of Titanic and as are many other people in the world.  The movie and song were created to give an intimate story, behind the scenes to the tragic loss of the people and this "unsinkable ship".   The fiction replica of this powerful ship in the movie was breathtakingly beautiful.  It gave us a closer look into the sorrow and hardships...that these people may of encountered. The vessel being taken down from smashing into a Iceberg! And to the passing of these incredible people...from steerage to first class passengers.  That night they became equals.  I would like to acknowledge the survivors, deceased, and their families!  God Bless you!  I am so Sorry for your Loss!  Thank you for sharing your story with us!  My deepest sympathies are with you!

My Birthday Planning Idea Invitation

My Birthday Planning Idea Invitation:

My birthday is coming up on October 14th...and normally it wasn't anything special, like any other day.  It's wonderful if you have family and friends that surprise you with parties and gifts. Some people don't like Surprises...but it's the thought that counts behind the preparations and the tons of balloons!  When we were kids, that was the BEST!  The Fun doesn't have to End when your a child.  And there is absolutely nothing wrong with planning your own bash either!!

Sometimes not everybody has even that luxury.  It can hurt others feelings too...if people forget, not on purpose but if no one says happy birthday.  Or how about never knowing your own birth date? ...I couldn't imagine how that feels!

Well I just decided for this blog entry is to create something for everyone. We might of never even met before...not yet, but I feel birthdays are extremely important, like many others. First things do have to come first! This is Dedicated to everyone on the Internet Land.  Happy Soon to be Birthday or Happy Belated or Happy Birthday because today is your birthday!!

I really hope you feel a little Special by reading this! Because you are even More Special than you realize! If you are interested in reading... I would like to share my birthday bash here on my blog.  Stay tuned for my upcoming Birthday I celebrate...your ALL invited to attend...it will be right here!  I wish everyone could be there face to face!!!  Wouldn't that be a Party!?

Life of a Butterfly

Life of a Butterfly

GOOD MORNING!!!  How is everyone been?  I wanted to share a painting, that I did.  I didn't have a vision for this artwork...like other's I paint blind and than it comes together.

I'm more into abstract, but the butterfly isn't a mystery.  It looks to me the butterfly is flying straight up into the sky.  It is flying away from Lava.

What this piece means to me...is the obstacles that we encounter day to day, but we strive towards the Sun as a brighter day emerges.

Don't give up on your Dreams!  What do you feel about this piece?  Be well and Happy Weekend Folks

Poisoned by FDA Approved Artificial Sweetener, My Story

Poisoned by FDA Approved Artificial Sweetener, My Story

I wanted to share my experience, so more awareness is provided to everyone in the world!  Please be open-minded to what this poison approved from the "FDA" is allowing into our bodies and most importantly our children's bodies.  Yes, we do have the choice too.

It was earlier this month and after dropping our son off to school.  We decided to grab some breakfast at "Burger King".  I ordered the same thing my husband ordered...except I ordered a coffee with artificial sweetener...not sugar...I asked for Splenda.  They provided me a generic version of Equal, but that was fine with me at the time.

I drained the coffee all and when...we got home to relax.  I was watching "Fat Actress", hilarious new comedy, that was new to me on "Showtime".  My eyes began to change, where I couldn't see right.  I was looking at the fabulous "Kirstie Alley" and her eyes looked different!  One eye was smaller than the other and looked disfigured?!  My head was throbbing in pain...it felt like it was in a vice!  My eye-balls literally felt like they were going to pop out of my head!  I have had migraines before, so I didn't at first link it to the artificial sweetener.  My husband wasn't having any weird symptoms...like myself.  It clearly wasn't food poisoning and we did eat the same croissant and hash browns.

When I initially became scared...is when I was reading.  I couldn't comprehend easy words and one, of the words I can remember now...that I couldn't even say at the time was "consider".  I told my husband right away...maybe I should of went to the ER, but I wanted to see if this would leave my system...or if it did actually give me brain damage?  My family could tell a drastic change in my intelligence!  It felt like I dropped IQ points in no time flat!

I drank diet soda's for years and used artificial sweetener in my coffee. What made this time different than now?  I think my body can't tolerate it anymore!  I researched it more and it's clear this is a Poison, the people of the world are consuming!  The diseases it can give you is mind-blowing!  A list of problems it can give you or mimic them.  Parkinson's Disease, MS, Lyme Disease, Seizures, Migraines, and many more!  I would advise to be very careful so this doesn't happen to you too! I'm very lucky that it reversed itself.

Please share my story!  We need to stand-up by not allowing it to poison ourselves.  The more people know the better we can protect ourselves!  Best thing to do is not use it anymore...

Here's some links below I provided.  I have another blog below I invite you to check out... Thank you and thanks for reading!

Nature's Appreciation

Sun danced; The rays melting the snow that has laid.
Spring time morning cheers will soon be heard.
Chirping birds nestled, sweetly singing, are home again.
Resting the spirit until another storm day is present.
Warmer seasons flourish the flowers.
Worker bees hum gathering the pollen

Garden's need attending to fill the stomachs' of our children. Animals graze the fields tasting alfalfa.
Evening yawns approach while, we are cozy in our beds.
Night light stars glow below the heavens.

The Lord's decoration.

The Tortoise and Hare Metaphor: Who Actually Wins the Race?

The tortoise and the hare story, I viewed the race between both of them comical. I remember as a child watching cartoons of the slow tortoise and the fast hare battling over whom is going to win the race. It wasn't

hard to speculate the winner would be or could be. The cheating concept was another form to amuse the audience. The two entertaining characters give an appealing performance to everyone.
Words of the wise can teach anyone regardless of age. The highly intelligent genius minds that some adults possess can be broadened by, a child's mind. A wonderland paradise: is a learning concept in which involves renewing the spirit and mind. In a battle of wits of the smarter verses the weaker, the smarter encounters the boastful side while, the weaker may encounter a feeling of being inferior or the book worm may overcome common sense of reality.

Who is quicker than the other? The tortoise may be slower physically, but with knowledge and wisdom he is able to gain control of the race, since he is blessed with such endowments. He may even become more recognized gaining more of a social network.

If you take your time and not rush to the next goal is less stressful. You're able to have a detailed organized product clarifying your professional qualities.
The hare could receive the golden medal with even more acceptable and the reputation isn't in jeopardy because he has proven once again that he can't be defeated. His different approach where speed and agility promotes success mentally, but could possibly be sloppy with the initial project as an end result. The star athlete can be scouted for colleges.

The un-popular tortoise continues to move forward ignoring the less enthusiastic boo's coming from the crowed attacking his self-esteem. Any challenging experience always rewards the one, whom crosses the finish line first. Sports; has competitive extremes so, it doesn't always bond the team. Some team mates knowing a chance to prove themselves would rather sit on the sidelines because they are more comfortable playing second fiddle. Their anxiety hits a home-run, where fear disadvantages the others opportunity presenting itself.
The tortoise works harder to be considered the honor of equal capacity. The mind; a powerful tool can be exercised for a better performance that anyone can have qualities of the tortoise. The tortoise's, inadequate feelings vanish without a trace or a chance of returning highly unlikely, but not impossible developing back from the dead per say.

The champion breaks through the white ribbon, the crowd screams in disbelief, but easily changes their tone. The tortoise is the winner of the race. His higher learner capabilities are what determined a better future and out-witted the hare by a long distance.

Encountering a Shark and Almost Becoming Bait: My Story

Traveling with my family in a car for 24 hours can get a little annoying. Well, my father takes turns with my step-mom with driving. His long range saw blade chain saw; slaughtering ear drumming machine can give  anyone a splitting migraine. To this day I can't even handle listening to a snort and a whistling nose at night. I would be out of there. I was stuck in the car. I couldn't escape the nauseating sledge hammering of my brain.
Florida was our destination, but thankfully we stopped at a couple of places. First stop, Jekyll Island, Georgia. It was perfect. I quickly dashed from the car. It must have been the salt in the ocean air because my headache was cleared instantly.

I found that I was a bit bummed because the ocean water was filled with jelly fish. Would you blame a ten year old for being bummed out about this? I figured I wouldn't argue this time especially when a guy wincing in pain with a reddish raw leg hopped past us. The greatest experience about Jekyll was seeing for my first time, dolphins swimming together. My heart sank, maybe one of these days I'll swim with them.
The next morning I was back in the torture chamber. God must have heard my prayers because Daddy had been fully rested up and he stayed awake through the duration to our next stop to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and then it was Orlando, Florida. Finally, we registered in our hotel, and I practically drug my dad to the beach.

My main prerogative was the waves. My favorite, and these were bigger than I thought. I searched the beach to find a vendor rental. Boogie boards! Excellent! My step sister and I rented our boards and took  off into the warm water. Every wave I rode my partner was practically keeping up with me, but finally she was done for and I kept thriving without any rest. It was my father's turn and instead of boogie boarding we fought the waves to get further out. I guess after while my father needed a break too. I knew my step-mom wouldn't be interested. She worshipped the sun mainly.
The next day we went back out again. I tried racing again to enjoy the adrenaline of nature's roller coaster. Unfortunately the parents disapproved they assured me that the ocean wasn't going anywhere. We rented the board and off the same sequence happened as yesterday. My partner exhausted went to rest. My father didn't want to play in the waves this time. I might have been alone, but that wasn't going to deny me any fun.

Instead of using my board I fought the waves and swam out far. A man and a boy were out there too. I twirled in the water, flipped backwards, and floated on my back. I relaxed there I could of slept on top my position and looked back at the beach. An eerie feeling swept over me I turned my head around and my jaw dropped. Something in the distance stood out of the water. I saw the movie, Jaws what kid hasn't I fought the music theme out of my head. I slowly moved backwards like a snail my eyes locked on the target. The fin was facing me so, I was being watched too. I prayed for my life while I drifted further towards shore. My heart in my throat I glanced over my shoulder to see if I was getting closer. I was making progress so, my hope was building. I turned my heart to face the giant before me waiting to devour me at any time. It wasn't there! I didn't know how to be relieved or more worried it could have been circling me by now. I swallowed hard and kept moving slowly like before. I scanned my eyes back and forth making sure I didn't see any more evidence of the predator. It seemed like an eternity, but the waves greeted me again and I was more than happy to meet them again. I made it to the shore-line thanking God for protecting me and promising everything under the sun to him.

A blurry figure was getting closer to me and yelling my name it was my dad. He swore that I was dead and never to do that again. What was I thinking? I told him I wasn't wearing my glasses and I couldn't see I thought they were watching me. I didn't tell him what almost happened to me.
Our family made it to Orlando, Florida. My step sister and I wanted to snorkel so; we went on a shuttle to Typhoon Lagoon. I wasn't sure if I could go through with it, but I was willing to try. I wasn't going to be alone this time. I felt more secure with snorkeling with sting rays and smaller sharks. We arrived at the Lagoon excited to snorkel. When my father looked at me and his eyes followed the red trail of blood running down my leg. I had a small scab on my knee before and I must have bumped it somehow and tore it off. My dad's eyes reflected in horror, "You are not going snorkeling now!"

Messengers

Angels Are All Around Us
Angel winked her pretty sparkle.
A pin point of illumination, they
appear all around us.
Some have perceived or others reject as
imagination.
Nothing to me will steal their thunder because
travelers’ linking, world’s workers for
the Lord.
Wings in voyage, but not fantasy these
aren’t fairies.
A quick flicker of an eye you may encounter
another kind in your lifetime.
Special warmth of love tingles in your
soul that you’re taken care of
from someone I know.

Gettysburg Ghost Story

The year was 1999. I was a general cleaner for a cleaning company at the time. My building was the Gettysburg Bank located on the square. The building consisted of its large, beautiful lobby. The bank had plenty of offices that needed to be cleaned. It was a full-time job. It took eight hours every night to be exact. I was forewarned by the supervisor at the time of strange occurrences that happen in the building. I didn't
feel that was professional of her to tell me. That's a great way to scare someone out of doing the job. I think she was happy with the fact she would rarely have to be in this building since I was taking over it. I wasn't the only cleaner there at the time. Mostly, I was alone, but the floor crew came in to buff the floors and wax. I always liked working alone so I could work at my own pace and not worry about the hassles of co-workers who do gossip behind your back, since they haven't graduated from kindergarten yet and were after your job too. I'm normally a quiet person and would keep to myself. So, of course I was the butt of all jokes. I felt at ease and would rather deal with some dead people then work with the living. My first night there by myself I figured the paranoia had set in. I felt eyes on me the whole time. I just minded my own business and did my job, like, the other jobs I did. If they didn't bother me I wouldn't bother them. On other nights the same thing happened but I didn't excuse the notion these times. I knew I was actually getting checked out by the inhabitors who lived there. I heard noises where I thought, the bank being old, it was only settling. I then started hearing more than the creepy noises. I heard actual foot steps upstairs from a section of offices I was cleaning. I had the upstairs to clean also. The others may have decided not to venture upstairs, but I'm not a cut-the-corners kind of gal. I proceeded upstairs with my vacuum; this was worn on my back. I didn't encounter anything strange, just the feeling of being watched and that was normal in this building.

On the opposite side of the lobby up on a landing were more offices off a smaller version of the lobby. I went for my break to call the area's manager since my old supervisor wasn't working for the company any longer. I told my boss the supplies that were needed and how much I liked
working at the bank. She was relieved to hear this since we find out they couldn't keep help with certain buildings in the Gettysburg area. I hung up the phone in the break room. I was ready to use the restroom when I was shocked to see a presence manifest before my eyes. A young boy of or around eight years old stood in the door way. He looked like he was from a black and white movie. He was in such detail I even remember what he was wearing; a pair of over-hauls. He smiled at me and, with a blink of an eye, he disappeared.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
